My New Lens is Here!!!!

Yay!! My 50 mm fixed lens came today!! I'm so excited!! I took it over to my parent's house for their Tree Decorating Party and played with it!! I know his wife will be happy to see this HAWT picture of her hubby (my nephew Phil):

He was such a good little model!! I also took this picture of Melissa outside right when I got the camera:


Here are some things I already learned from this camera:
1. It takes beautiful crisp shots, but I have to work extra hard not to move or have the subjects move. I am really bad about this part. When possible, I use a tripod now.

2. ISO and f-stops and shutter speeds need to be adjusted EVERY SHOT. If you move your angle even slightly, the light going into the camera is different and the shot won't be the same

3. I love how it blurs the background even without trying with the aperture settings!

I am sure I will learn tons more as I use it more.

Oh, and mental note to self: Charge your batteries before any important event you might want to take pictures at. I didn't have the camera for the first part of the party...duh!!
