A Tagging We Will Go...
I got tagged by my sweet friend Shabby Miss Jenn so here are my answers:
Holiday Tag...
First off, I tag these ladies:
Lucy Marino
Shannon
Hollie
Heather Ann
Elaina,
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
This is an easy one - I HATE Egg Nog with a PASSION!!! I can't even get it near my nose! Hot Chocolate is hands down the winner - as they say in "The Polar Express" "hot hot hot chocolate - here we only have one rule - never ever let it cool. Keep it cooking in the pot then you got HOT CHOCOLATE!!!!!"
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
Hmmm, we're just starting out on the Santa/St. Nicholas thing. She loves the story of Santa but she knows the story of St. Nicholas too. He will give her a present under the tree and most of them are from us and family.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
Colored on the outside and white on the tree.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Actually no! We've never had mistle toe up!
5. When do you put your decorations up?
The first weekend of December is when the lights go up.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
I think the answer would be ALL OF THE ABOVE.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child.
There was one Christmas when all my cousins from up in Northern California came down to visit and all the cousins slept in a big lump in the dining room and when present opening came it was CHAOS!!! We had 10 kids and 8 adults in their sleeping bags and night clothes. The mound of wrapping paper was awesome to see!
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I don't really remember a time, but I remember when I was about 5 I saw my parents put out a present and in the morning it said "From Santa" and I knew they had put it out there the night before. I felt very betrayed and angry at my parents for lying to me so it's been hard to let Melissa believe.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
We open one present and it's our Lanz Nightgown
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
very traditional - green unflocked real tree, noble fir, white lights, a star and wood type ornaments and traditional balls.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
I live in California - if we have a White Christmas it's the end of the world as we know it.
12. Can you ice skate?
No, my ankles would explode.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
It would have to be my Suzy Homemaker Easy Bake Oven!
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Celebrating Jesus birth and being with loved ones
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Chocolate chip cookies, Pumpkin pie, See's Candy
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Hmm, we're just starting out. In my growing up years it would be going to Gramma Hultin's for Christmas Eve with my dad's side of the family and fighting over the Swedish meatballs with my cousin Donny who would always get in line first and hog them up. Then we'd go to Midnight Mass as a family.
In my family now, we watch Polar Express as a family and make hot chocolate and Kettle Corn Popcorn the day after Thanksgiving to start the season and then we play "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole.
17. What tops your tree?
A sweet colorful crystal like star.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Honestly - both. I adore giving presents that people like but I also like getting presents too!
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant, Silent Night by Mannheim Steamroller, Little Toy Trains by Glen Campbell, and Silver Bells (reminds me of my Grampa!)
20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
Ok, I'm a weird one - I like them but they become YUM when they're the sweet kind, not the peppermint!!
